How to Have a Local “Share-in-Revenue” (Sales) Fundraiser

| July 10, 2013

A “Share-in-Revenue” (Sales) Fundraiser is when a local business, such as a restaurant or an ice cream store, agrees to give your organization a percentage of sales for a certain amount of time.  Typically they will give you a time slot on one of their slower business days.  This will benefit the retail establishment by bringing in revenue on a slow day and possibly introducing new customers to their business.  This is a great fundraiser for your organization because you have nothing to lose!  Typically the retail establishment will give you a two to four hour window of time that they will agree to give you a percentage of their sales.  I have seen great results with this type of fundraising ($100 – $900).  Your results will depend on how much business you can bring to the retailer.  Some retailers will share anywhere from 10 % – 50 % of their sales for your designated time period.

How do we promote this fundraiser?

To promote this fundraiser, you would invite all of your organization’s members, your friends, family, and neighbors as well as social media through your twitter and Facebook contacts.  The more people you publicize to the better you will do.  This fundraiser is a win-win situation.

Where do I find a retailer willing to do this?

Finding a retailer willing to do this is very easy.  Many national chains already have fundraising programs in place, and once you explain to a store owner what you are trying to do, many will agree to do so.  Go to the store or restaurant manger and ask them if they do fundraising.

Happy Fundraising!
