How to create Community awareness for your Fundraiser?

| September 23, 2013

So what are some of the best ways in which you can promote your fundraiser so that the community can become aware of the Fundraiser?

We often talk about social media as a great medium for promotion and never before has this avenue been so prolific in raising awareness among the local community. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Google+ are all sites where you can excel in promoting your fundraiser so that the community can become aware of when, where and what events are taking place.

It’s free to set up a page on Facebook but you will still have to get as many people as possible to like the page and engage with it. This is where promoting your fundraiser becomes an on-going activity. You will be expected to enter content, schedule in event dates, take images and post them, or maybe even shoot some video and post this on the page. Getting the community to like what your raising funds for is a great way to spread the word.

Don’t forget to set up a dedicated account on Twitter too, and be sure to fire off tweets at regular intervals throughout the day. If you are raising funds for a good cause like cancer, leukemia, Parkinson’s disease or helping children in education then don’t forget the hash tag (the symbol “#” followed by the keyword) in all your tweets.

Obviously you can change the wording and hash tags to suit your particular tweet but remember by adding the hash tag you engage every person that has looked on Twitter under that particular keyword tag. Promoting your fundraiser is important so why not write a small blog showcasing your fundraiser and telling the community your story.
